. However, there is an alternative method called Dataflow Profile
Prerequisite to import products data
Before you start the process, you need to prepare the CSV file containing all the data you will like to import. In fact, those data usually have the same format. However, if you customized your store to suit your business rules, you might need to export data template from your Magento admin.
In order to do that, just go to System -> Import/Export->Export. Once you are on the page, you can select Products from entity type. From the list of Entity Attribute options, you can select the columns you don't want to export. And hit the continue button at the bottom of the page. If you followed the instructions correctly, a CSV file with all your products will be downloaded to your computer. You can then go ahead and replace data from the template with your own data. Note that it is important to keep the header format provided by the template. The template technically provides you with all the products data available on your Magento Database.
Method 1: Importing with import/export method
After downloading the template, and populating it with your data, you can now follow the steps below to import your data.
Navigate to System -> Import/Export->Import
In the Entity Type field, select Products. And in the Select File to Import input field, select the CSV file from where it is stored on your computer. and click on the Check Data button.

You can't continue due to some errors with your CSV files.
Usually, if the system detects more than 10 errors in your files, you won't be able to import. What you need to do is check your CSV files and try again. In fact, most the errors occur either because the products are not created or you saved the file in a wrong format. For example, if your file contains special characters, it is advisable to save it in a CSV utf8 format.
Your file has less than 10 errors and you are able to import.
In this case, a green button will appear just after the import settings tabs. Click on import to have your products imported.
After importing your products data to Magento, in order to see the changes on your website, you need to reindex your data. To achieve that, go to System -> Index Management, click on select all to the left and hit submit to the right.
