Creation of the DresssCoop online store

DresssCoop is a company based in Laval. We had the privilege of redeveloping DresssCoop's online store. The previous site was on Magento 1, and according to the owner's goals, it was not quite suitable.

DresssCoop Problems

Here are some of the issues she encountered while running her website:

  • Too much technicality required to administer the site. In 90% of cases, all desired changes required the help of the developer. Therefore, she had to spend a lot without any proper benefit.
  • Magento 1 version is coming to end of life by June 2020. As you probably know Magento 1 end of life is scheduled for June 2020. So to avoid security risks associated with outdated version of Magento, she will have to upgrade to the latest version or something else.
  • DresssCoop needed to redesign or revamp some of its website functionality. Extensions that previous developers had installed no longer worked. The development cost was not worth it.

Our mission as professional developers

As professional website developers and a team that understands the strength and weakness of various tools, we had to advise something better. Considering its business purpose and past experiences, we recommended WordPress as the best option. Some tools like Magento are excellent for large businesses. However, you usually need a team of developers to help you with maintenance and updating. Whereas WordPress is quite easy to manage and maintain.

The expected results

First, DresssCoop may update its website extension or features without relying on us. Updating a WordPress website is simple. Then she can refresh her content and do SEO easily without any additional features. On its website, we install Yoast SEO which is convenient to use and understand. Finally, she won't have to worry about security, updating features. We train her to do it herself.

Tools and technologies used

We used the latest version of WordPress 5.2.3 Our team developed a template from scratch. As WordPress experts, we can create WordPress templates from scratch. To provide a unique design for DresssCoop website, we therefore converted an HTML template to a WordPress template. The design made was with Bootstrap framework. For example, responsiveness is crucial these days. One of the great things about Bootstrap is that it can resize a website according to screen size. Some plugins used are Yoast SEO , Smush (to optimize images) and “FAST VELOCITY MINIFY”. These plugins have the particularity of offering a unique experience to your website.

Validations

To make sure we didn't use old syntax or make mistakes during development, we used the W3C validator to validate our coding. In addition, to avoid spam, we have protected all forms on the site with Captcha V3 from Google.
