WordPress has a few options you can take advantagto protect your websites bettersites. Indeed, in the configuration section, there are options that you can set up in a few clicks. We look at a few in the following. This configuration will be done in the Settings ⇒ Discussion tab.

This option can be used if you do not want comments to be anonymous and want people to submit tnames name and email for posting comments.

Automatically close comments on articles older than [X] days
This option should be checked if you do not want any users to post comments athe fter specific days the postpublishedosted.

As the option suggests, this option when checked will keep cookies containing author information when they submit comments.
Enable threaded (nested) comments [X] levels deep
This option allows users to reply to comments, creating nested comments to a specific level provided on the option.
Break comments into pages with [X] top level comments per page and the [last/first] page displayed by default. Comments should be displayed with the [older/newer] comments at the top of each page

This option can be checked if you want to approve every comment on your posts manually.

This option will aonly comments from users whoments have previously been approved.
Comment Moderation: Hold a comment in the queue if it contains [X] or more links (A common characteristic of comment spam is many hyperlinks.)
This will automatically hold the comment for moderation if found more than the allowed hyperlink in the comments. This option can be used to keep spam comments away from the post.
Disallowed Comment keys: When a comment contains any of these words in its content, author name, URL, email, IP address or browser’s user-agent string, it will be marked as spam. One word or IP per line. It will match inside words, so “press” will match “WordPress”.
This container should be used when you want to exclude certain words or paraphrases from your comment section.
Avatar: Avatar display
Check this box if you want the user avatar to be visible under the comments section.
Avatar: Maximum Rating
This option allows you to select the rating of users’ avatars from G — Suitable for all audiences, PG — Possibly offensive, usually for audiences 13 and above, R — Intended for adult audiences above 17 to X — Even more mature than above.
